Custard with fruits

A recipe that I learn’t a decade ago and one that is commended a lot for its creamy taste. Can serve the custard with a mixture of fruits, or just a single fruit along with chopped nuts and can be served without being refrigerated, unless needed. This custard is best, when served with ripe mangoes.

1. Milk - 500ml
2. Sugar - 5tbsp
3.Cornflour - 1 1/2tbsp
4. Pineapple essence or vanilla essence - 1/4tsp

1. Mix cornflour with a little cold milk and keep aside.
2. Boil the milk for five minutes, add sugar and continue to boil the milk until it is reduced to half its quantity. ( At this stage, taste the milk and adjust the amount of sugar needed)
3. Add the cornflour mixture to the boiling milk and stir continuously until it thickens.
4. Add the essence, mix well and remove from heat.
5. Let it cool. Serve with cut fruits and chopped nuts.
